En Colombia!

Hola Parces, I'm writing in Colombia waiting for the gang to be ready to go out. Slowly learning spanish (estoy apprendiendo espanol despacio) and quickly making friends. Everyone here is amazingly friendly and welcoming. Can't say enough good things about this country.

In other news, PULPO! has been on hiatus since I've taken my recent job. My job should be done by September so I'll be qucikly returning to PULPO! I've made alot of promises to friends as well as myself to finish this project and I'm excited about getting back to drawing tentacles and forced perspective city streets.

In the meantime, here's two pages from PULPO! I rushed to ink for submissions for SVA's portfolio catalogue. I definitely want to redo these again but here's proof PULPO! is moving forward. Pages 9 and 10 where Pulpo breaks free from its underground cell.

I'm also looking forward to doing a couple short comic pieces as I wait for my schedule to clear up enough for PULPO! A very walt kelly inspired version of little Red Riding hood as well as a quick less comical three page story i wrote one day-I can be serious sometimes

the PEEPS have been up to alot lately and we are looking forward to finally getting our latest EP, Our Crazy, pressed and printed. We expected to be on vacation here in Colombia but we've been pretty busy with shows and interviews here. If only we spoke more spanish! We have a video out on youtube right now for "The Sun" and you can also listen to the sun on our myspace.com/thepeepsny. Keep an eye out for Our Crazy!

6 Weeks

Oh Boy! I haven't been here since December. Terrible. I've been doing tons of work since Dec. just never came here to prove it.
PULPO! is nearing it's final pages and I'm looking forward to getting it in book form. And in all my attempts of thoroughly finishing the writing before I put pencil to paper, I'm still not sure how many pages it is going to be. Notes to time line to script to script to script to thumbs to page layouts to paper. And it was at "paper" that I realized it all needed to be reworked. But today, PULPO!'s looking great and I'm really satisfied with the work (thanks to friends and faculty keeping me on track).

Here is some paintings I did last semester. Both studies are unfinished but I just wanted to show that I do paint sometimes too. I owe much of the successful choices made in these paintings to Mr. Greg Crane. He taught me alot. I'd have more to prove it if I finished a single painting.

Last Minutes

Hello,

Here's a tingy I did for the PEEPS (www.myspace.com/thepeepsny).
The black and white is going to be used for a flier for our show the 26th at the Basement in Kingston with Caleb Lionheart and friends.
The color I designed to be used as a internet Christmas Card, hence the silly seasons greetings. I sent both these to Ted (http://web.me.com/tmkohlmann/tmkohlmann/Home.html) to be graphic designed.

More to follow.

Pulpo!

Hi, I just got back home for Thanksgiving and I've decided to blog. Mostly, because there's not much else here to do that I want to do more than blog right now.

I'm just waiting for Adrian to call me back.

I've decided to entitle my project for my Senior Year at SVA, PULPO. Spanish for squid, it's a fitting title for my "pulp" fiction story about an Octopus that attacks New York.

I don't want to give away too much but it involves a fishwoman, a crazy old man, a ten year old with a rifle, and an Octopus. There's a character sketch I colorized of Henry(etta)!

I've kinda gotten in this Digital Coloring rut where all I do in Photoshop is putter around trying my best to make it not look like I was puttering around in Photoshop. Ui Mompis!

I also did a submission for the Visual Opinion Calander Issue. I did March because it's one of the few months that means business(I'm pretty sure I chose it at random). Again, it's got that yellow tint I stole a little from Seth but mostly from my Dad's Pogo Ten Year Collection book he gave me recently. I never read Pogo until about a month ago I was talking to my papa about how much I love Calvin and Hobbes. Next thing I know he whips out this giant Pogo book that's been sitting on our shelf for years. It's beautifully old, collecting Walt Kelly's Pogo strip from 1948 to 1958. It's something to see.
